Niantic Studios, the same studio behind the augmented reality mobile game Pokemon Go, is now making a Harry Potter augmented reality game. Harry Potter: Wizards Unite, puts you in the role of a wizard in the world of Harry Potter, letting you wander around and learn magic in the process. By exploring the real world such as your neighborhood or town or city, you can go on various wizarding adventures, learning a variety of spells, encountering magical creatures, and also meeting familiar characters. While there isn’t a lot of other information about the game, hopefully it’ll be better than Pokemon Go, with more content. While Pokemon Go experienced wild popularity when it was first released, a lack of other Pokemon, plus dodgy server connections and unsatisfactory mechanics, caused it to fall by the wayside almost as fast as it rocketed to the top. The Harry Potter universe has a lot of things that can be put into a mobile game, especially since a new Harry Potter film … [Read more...] about Niantic Is Developing Harry Potter: Wizards Unite, An Augmented Reality Game

When it was announced that J.K. Rowling would be returning to the Harry Potter universe to pen Newt Scamander's adventures in creating the wizarding textbook (and 2001 Rowling spin-off book) Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them , the Pot-heads of the world rejoiced. Well, get ready to rejoice some more, because Mr. Scamander's adventures are coming to the big screen as a trilogy, according to a New York Times report. In an article about Warner Brothers CEO Kevin Tsujihara, the Times dropped a few nuggets about the Fantastic Beasts movies, as well as Tsujihara's recruitment of Rowling to return to the Potter lore. I suppose you can’t eat Simon and Garfunkel either or, at least, you shouldn’t … anyway, let me tell you about Harry Potter: Hogwarts Battle, and why you’ll probably want to play it rather than eat it.I’m great at analogies.I’m going to (mostly) avoid spoilers in this review, not because I don’t want to spoil the story of Harry Potter, but because a big part of the fun in the game is discovering what each new box adds to the experience. This game is actually … [Read more...] about Harry Potter: Hogwarts Battle Review – Cistem Aperio!

Would-be wizards will also be able to use the camera to scan in their faces for use on created characters. The game will follow the story of the films, letting players re-create key scenes in control of Harry, Hermione, and Ron, or their created characters. Before the final showdown with Voldemort, players can choose a house to join at Hogwarts, partake in quidditch matches, and take a break with a few minigames. Harry Potter for Kinect will also feature competitive and cooperative multiplayer action.
