The world’s best known trucking simulator is getting some updates in version 1.21 in advance of its new upcoming DLC. The new DLC for Euro Truck Simulator 2 is Cabin Accessories and it will let you make your truck cabin look the way you want with a mixture of practical and completely impractical things… all working with the games physics engine. So if you’ve been dreaming about how to make your cabin look cool officially, and with some good animations this might be up your alley as this trailer demonstrates:In preparation for this SCS Software has put patch 1.21 out into beta. Much of this patch is preparing for the upcoming DLC and some highlights for it are:Improved reflections on the interiorImproved sounds on tires and breakingImproved road collisionsWorkaround for missing geometry on low-end intel GPUs on OSX.It’s not a particularly big patch but helps set things up. If you want to get your hands on it early, you can go to it on the public_beta … [Read more...] about Next Euro Truck Simulator 2 DLC Announced
Update euro truck simulator 2
Announced on their blog, the next update for the popular Euro Truck Simulator 2 is right around the corner. The update 1.19 is in full closed beta testing at the moment and looks likely to go to a public beta next week. The update is specific to the add on Going East! and will contain more of the territory of Hungary. In particular, two new cities will be added in Pécs and Szeged. You can see some of the new routes that have been added below. While I myself have not played the game in question, from my understanding and discussions with those who do have it, Going East! is one of the critical DLC’s to own, and to see more content to be brought to it is good to say the least. On the blog they’ve included more screenshots like the ones below that seemingly add even more to the interesting case of Euro Truck Simulator 2, which has provided an example of the viability of simulator games being a reasonable and fun experience, as opposed to some of the less titles within the … [Read more...] about New Euro Truck Simulator 2 Update is Coming
For those of you who love going a-truckin’, SCS Software has released its beta of the 1.15 patch on Steam. Deemed the “Holiday Update” by the game developer, this new patch introduces a number of improvements to the game.Opting into the beta program on Steam will allow you to put your hands on the wheel before the patch is officially released. This obviously means that SCS has not worked out all of the kinks in the new version, so don’t expect a perfectly clean experience. But I’m happy to announce that the predictions I have made in a previous report on the game’s ongoing development have come to fruition, to the letter. The new features in this new patch for Euro Truck Simulator 2 include:A new interior for the DAF Euro 6 truck (named “Exclusive”, much like Scania’s luxury interior);New sounds for Scania’s V6 engines, as well as improved sound for the Iveco line of trucks;Backlights on dashboard can now support … [Read more...] about Euro Truck Simulator 2 1.15 Patch Goes on Beta!
The audio realism in SCS Software’s Euro Truck Simulator 2 was something of a gray area for many of the game’s fans. Some have enjoyed the experience, saying it’s akin to actually sitting at the dashboard of a real truck. Others weren’t so enthusiastic, describing sounds as relatively bland or, as a friend put it, “That Renault truck sounds like a rickety old vacuum cleaner.”Indeed, many of the complaints about Euro Truck Simulator 2’s audio do not seem to be directed at the Scania or Volvo brands of trucks available in-game. Rather, the complaints seem to come from people who either occasionally or frequently drive brands like Iveco, Renault, MAN, and “Majestic” (Mercedes, forced into the closet because intellectual property laws are lovely). It’s very difficult to translate what you record into something that resembles the actual truck’s sound, but it looks like SCS software is taking the effort to … [Read more...] about Euro Truck Simulator 2 1.15 Patch to Include Better Truck Sounds?
SCS Software has announced today on Steam that it is now allowing players to update to the public beta of its 1.14 patch. This new patch will bring in some new features into the game and (gasp) a new truck! If you feel like giving a hand and testing out the new features while giving your input, it’s time to update your game now.New features include:Configure your axles to lift! Many trucks lift axles to help manage weight distribution and maneuverability.Your speed limit is now shown in your dashboard GPS, as opposed to showing up only on the on-screen GPS overlay that appears when hitting F3.If your vehicle turns over, your damage will increase as opposed to giving you a minor scratch. If you damage your cargo, you’ll notice that companies will be angrier at you for receiving broken cargo. Your cargo is bad, and you should feel bad.Your turn indication lights and steering will have impact on the camera rotation (helpful if you’re not using a gamepad).Traffic has … [Read more...] about Euro Truck Simulator 2 Rolls Out Public Beta For 1.14 Patch
While my trucking dreams took me to the big skies of American Truck Simulator, some still follow roads closer to home. Euro Truck Simulator 2 will revisit Italy in its next paid add-on, expanding and revamping the country. That will launch next Tuesday, the 5th of December, developers SS Software announced today. Perhaps, as our country tries to hack itself off Europe (accidentally severing several fingers with a Stanley knife and pulping its toes with a fumbled hammer in the process), Europe will seem fancier and I’ll soon find myself dreaming of these lands. For now, have a look at Italia in this trailer:Italia expands and fleshes out the region with more cities, more roads, more landmarks, and more unique local buildings, landmarks, cargos, and road styles. Previous country packs have focused on France, Scandinavia, and Eastern Europe. Part of Italy is already in ETS2 but the expansion will complete and revitalise the country.SCS Software are also improving that old bit of … [Read more...] about Euro Truck Simulator 2 revisits Italia next week
Another corner of Europe is getting expanded and fancied up later this year, with the next Euro Truck Simulator 2 [official site] DLC off to Italy. Like the recent French expansion, Italia will expand and update the country with new cities and more unique features. The handful of Italian cities already in the game will be updated to match for free for everyone too.SCS Software gushed in today’s announcement: “Our map designers have fallen in love with the new region right from the research stages – there are so many diverse environments to combine! From tall mountains to the shores of the seas, from manicured farmland to wilder and more arid places, it was clear that we are looking at quite a challenging and demanding task! We tried our best to depict the typical features of Italy from behind the wheel, like roads leading through the Apennines, where tunnels and bridges alternate with scenic vistas and curvy segments, opening the view to distant horizons. The … [Read more...] about Euro Truck Simulator 2 off to Italy in next expansion
Q: What is green and scaly, weighs 20 tonnes, has a fearsome roar audible a mile away, moves at up to 70km/h, and can haul a load of wood shavings from Felixstowe to Kiel in 14 hours?A: A truck with a sweet prehistoric paintjob.A pack of six really very swish dinoskins are now roaring around in Euro Truck Simulator 2 [official site] as a £1.59 DLC pack, which is both cheaper and more fun than Jurassic World. “NICE” I shouted in the RPS treehouse when I saw them. On top of that, developers SCS recently dropped a respectable update adding a mod manager and more.Seriously, look on Steam at how cool these trucks are. I hope American Truck Simulator gets more into the sort of kooky trucks I’ve seen on the highways of the US of A. Fingers crossed we’ll one day see Japanese Dekotora Simulator too.Anyway, about update 1.19. Launching last Thursday, it added a mod manager letting folks easily install, remove, and manage mods – which can always be a pain when … [Read more...] about Megalizards And Mod Manager For Euro Truck Simulator 2
We are just one day away from the release of the Scandinavia expansion for Euro Truck Simulator 2 [official site], and Alec’s review is already in progress. I imagine that even as I’m typing these words he’s navigating fjords, shipping Moomins, solving grim transnational murders, and explaining to onlookers that, though included in this DLC and part of the cultural region, Denmark is not strictly speaking a part of the Scandinavian peninsula.Me? I’ve got to settle for this all-too exciting launch trailer.Euro Truck Simulator 2 was a surprise success even for those who don’t love trucks, owing in part to its compulsive business management metagame and in part to the relaxation offered by its open roads and steady travel. That success has allowed developers SCS Software to pour more resources back into the game, continuing to update it regularly and to add DLC that offers greater and greater detail than the base game. Scandinavia claims to be another grand … [Read more...] about Roll Out: Euro Truck Simulator 2 Scandinavia Launch Trailer
I’ve used the Oculus Rift to fight Half-Life 2’s Combine, to blast through space in EVR, and to stomp around in Hawken’s powerful mechs, but this was the thing I’d really been waiting for. SCS Software just released the Oculus Rift-enabled beta for Euro Truck Simulator 2, and I celebrated by driving from Cardiff to Southampton.Euro Truck Simulator 2 is a game about simulating trucks in Europe. It’s a game about sitting in a cockpit, and about having strangely evocative experiences. That makes it perfect fodder for strapping two tiny computer monitors to your eyeballs while hoping no one is taking photos of you.Getting the Rift to work with the game is easy: download the beta via Steam, and add ‘-oculus’ to the launch command line. Beyond that point, it should just work, albeit a bit shonkily. Here’s a video of me playing, in which you can see why I don’t drive in real life. Also featured: the noise of me turning my head, because I … [Read more...] about Impressions: Oculus Rift support for Euro Truck Simulator 2
